WASHINGTON, D.C. – With less than three weeks left until Election Day, Speaker Johnson completed his latest campaign swing throughout California to support House Republican incumbents and challengers in the state as he works to grow the House Republican Majority. This swing is the latest on the Speaker's campaign efforts in 24 states in October and 40 states so far overall since being elected in October 2023, including a swing throughout Pennsylvania last week.
During this latest swing, Speaker Johnson joined campaign events alongside Rep. Ken Calvert (CA-41), Rep. Young Kim (CA-40), Rep. Mike Garcia (CA-27), candidate Scott Baugh (CA-47), and candidate Matt Gunderson (CA-49). Alongside Rep. Michelle Steel (CA-45) in Orange County's Little Saigon, Speaker Johnson also held his first campaign outreach event focused on the Vietnamese community. Speaking through a translator, Speaker Johnson highlighted Rep. Steel's record on defending human rights and representing the District, which comprises the largest ethnic Vietnamese population outside of Vietnam.
This is the second time Speaker Johnson has traveled throughout California so far this month. Earlier in October, the Speaker campaigned with candidate Kevin Lincoln (CA-09), Rep. John Duarte (CA-13), and Rep. David Valadao (CA-22) in the Central Valley. Latest data shows Republicans gaining registered voters in tight Districts throughout California.
After the events, Speaker Johnson released the following statement:
"The House Republican majority runs through California, where our battle-tested incumbents and strong candidates will help us keep and grow the majority this November," said Speaker Johnson. "Like families across our country, Californians are eager to lower costs, secure the border, fight crime, restore America's strength on the world stage, and stop overreach from Sacramento and Washington, D.C. House Republicans will deliver solutions to the issues American care most about, and I look forward to continuing our work through Election Day to secure victories up and down the ballot."
The Speaker's latest travel follows his record-breaking $27.5 million fundraising quarter, as he has now raised more than $70 million in direct fundraising efforts to grow the majority. Speaker Johnson has invested more than $30 million into Republican campaign accounts across the country and transferred more than $26 million to the NRCC since entering office less than one year ago. In the third quarter, Speaker Johnson set monthly and quarterly online fundraising records, transferred $5 million to incumbents and challengers, and raised an additional $8.1 million directly for candidates.
Last week, it was reported that the Congressional Leadership Fund, the Speaker’s endorsed Super PAC, also raised a record-setting $81 million in the third quarter and $196 million since Johnson became Speaker.
