Speaker Johnson Adds to Political Staff for 2026 Cycle

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Speaker Mike Johnson announced his political staff on Team Johnson for the 2026 election cycle as he leads efforts to defend and grow the House Republican majority.

"Our team made history in the last election by hitting the ground mid-cycle, raising record funds, and keeping our House Republican majority," said Speaker Mike Johnson. "With our expanded staff in place, I'm confident Team Johnson can lead the effort to stay on offense and grow our majority in 2026."

Billy Constangy will continue as Executive Director. Previously, Constangy served as leadership chief of staff to Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC), Chairman of the NRCC. Constangy also previously served as Hudson’s personal office chief of staff, district director, and as an aide to North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory (R-NC) and former Congresswoman Sue Myrick (R-NC).

Hunter Mullis will serve as Deputy Executive Director. Mullis was most recently director of operations for Team Johnson. Previously, Mullis was vice president of operations at Convergence Media where she led cross-functional teams for political campaigns and corporate clients.

Sam Spencer will continue as Political Director. Previously, Spencer served as political director to Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Spencer also worked for the NRCC as the western regional political director in the 2022 election cycle and as the California state director during the 2020 cycle. Spencer has an effective history of flipping seats from Democratic to Republican. Prior to the NRCC, Sam served as a chief of staff in the California state legislature.

Coleman Covington will serve as Finance Director. Most recently, Covington was external affairs finance director for Team Johnson. Previously, Covington worked at the Congressional Leadership Fund, served as deputy finance director for the NRCC, and served as deputy finance director for American First Action, the Trump-endorsed outside group in 2020. Additionally, Covington is an alumnus of Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE), Representative John Shimkus (R-IL), and Governor Bruce Rauner (R-IL).

Greg Steele will continue as Communications Director. Steele was previously director of media affairs for the NRCC, communications director for Representatives Richard Hudson (R-NC) and Ron Estes (R-KS), and a communications aide to Governor Pat McCrory (R-NC).

Chase Davis will serve as Deputy Political Director. Most recently, Davis was political assistant for Team Johnson. Previously, Davis was operations coordinator for the Office of the Speaker and worked for the NRCC, Youngkin for Governor, and Faulconer for Governor.

Jordan Bell will continue as Deputy Operations Director. Previously, Bell worked at Direct Persuasion overseeing multiple nationwide digital fundraising and advertising efforts. Prior to that, Bell was a member of the political team at America First Action Super PAC.

Caroline Reynolds will be Deputy Finance Director. During the last two cycles, Reynolds was a principal at Lilly and Company where she led Texas high-dollar fundraising efforts for House Republicans.

Sarah Grace Prestwood will serve as Regional Finance Director. Most recently, Prestwood was finance coordinator for Team Johnson. Prestwood is a native of Shreveport, LA and previously served as finance coordinator for Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Prior to that, Prestwood worked on statewide campaigns for Vice President JD Vance and General Don Bolduc.

Haley Lively will be Regional Finance Director. Most recently, Lively served as northeast regional finance coordinator at the NRSC in the last election cycle and worked as a professional volunteer on both the 2024 Republican National Convention and the 60th Presidential Inauguration.

Last week, Speaker Johnson released his updated Grow the Majority Joint Fundraising Committee for this cycle that will stay on offense to raise up to $1 million for House Republicans across the country. Grow the Majority is comprised of over 70 entities and is the largest JFC this cycle and in history for House Republicans.
